Job Description:
The Art & Design Department seeks a highly motivated candidate with a commitment to foundation-level teaching in graphic design within a larger Art + Design program. A strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment and an understanding of portfolio standards for students transferring to BFA programs is preferred. The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in both classroom and online formats; teaching assignments will include Graphic Design 1, Digital Fundamentals, as well as design electives which may include courses such as Graphic Design 2, Typography, and Design and Illustration. The successful candidate will actively participate in the development of the Art & Design A.S. curriculum focused on preparing students for academic transfer into degree programs in art and design. In addition to teaching a full-time course load, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development, coordinate staffing and assessment of design courses, and contribute to departmental and campus activities that support the college mission.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Master's degree in Art and/or Design and a minimum of one year of teaching experience or comparable professional experience.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of three years college-level teaching in Art and Design, ideally at the community college level, is preferred. A background in graphic design is preferred. The successful applicant must demonstrate clear fluency in material for a range of introductory design courses. Experience in curriculum development is highly desired. Demonstrated skills in educational technologies such as BrightSpace (D2L) or other LMS.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2025
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
