Job Description

Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for reviewing and analyzing patient safety report forms related to medical devices, also known as incident reports. When time permits, secondary responsibilities include repairing, calibrating, and maintaining medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. Equipment responsibilities include but are not limited to infusion devices, hypo/hyperthermia units, patient monitoring devices, beds, pathology equipment, and other assigned equipment.

Responsibilities*

Work performed is documented in the work order database system called AIMS. Additional duties include identifying and preparing parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventative maintenance on assigned devices. Cross-training for other biomedical engineering technicians for expanded backup support is also required. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. The primary job site is at the Michigan Medicine main campus. Technicians must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
