Job Description
TECHINCAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrated Cancer Research-Yaffe Lab, to work closely with several lab members and perform independent research using CRISPR-based screens for sensitization of tumor cells to signaling pathway inhibitors and chemotherapeutic drugs, combined with in vivo mouse tumor studies. Responsibilities include performing a broad range of basic laboratory experiments using standard techniques, including tissue culture techniques, CRISPR screening, maintaining mouse tumor and human PDX models, delivery of novel anti-cancer therapeutics into mice and target tumors, molecular cloning, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, and other biochemical/molecular assays; statistical data analysis; evaluating, designing, and revising research methods/procedures/techniques based on established objectives; adjusting basic experimental protocols to ensure project completion in a timely fashion; modifying and/or developing protocols/procedures/ techniques/applications of technology; co-authoring articles for publication; analyzing and documenting experiment results/research findings and presenting at lab meetings; inventorying lab supplies; coordinating equipment repair; and database management.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: B.A./B.S. in a relevant field; two years’ specialized lab experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate); working knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; experience with mouse cancer models, signal transduction biochemistry, and relevant molecular biology and cell culture techniques; experience conducting and applying online research to projects; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfort analyzing, summarizing, and reporting results to researchers; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; and ability to follow safety procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED: M.S. in related field, broad knowledge of the work done in the labs, and experience collaborating with a diverse group of researchers/trainees. Job #22852
Work conditions: exerting light-to-medium amount of force to move objects of 10-20 lbs.; moving long distances or from site to site; proximity to mechanical parts and electrical current; exposure to high heat or chemicals.
